Top 5 Productivity Hacks for Bears

It’s not all fun and games being a furry, lethal predator. There’s a lot to keep track of. So we’ve rounded up this list of 5 easy hacks to get your ursine workflow streamlined.

1. Take several short hibernations throughout the year, rather than one winter-long hibernation.

With hibernation season coming, it’s time to try this one out. Researches have found time and time again that taking 4-5 short hibernations leaves you better rested and more positive than taking one winter-long hibernation. We know it can seem challenging to find the time to hibernate throughout the year, but with a little planning (see Migrate Your Den Activities to Google Wave) you’ll find you have more energy and have to spend less time dropping your body temperature several degrees and ceasing to urinate.

2. Consolidate your short- and long-term hunting/sleeping/mating tasks into an online list.

Instead of having to remember when it’s time to eat salmon or challenge another male encroaching on your territory, you can easily check all your upcoming tasks on RememberTheMilk.com. And with apps for Android, iPhone, and Pre, you can remember when you need to climb a tree to forage for protein-heavy vegetation even on the go.

3. Migrate your den activities to Google Wave

Tired to organizing your bear friends and family with phone calls, emails, and IM’s? Try getting everybody on Google Wave. If you’re lucky enough to get an invite, you’ll find Wave is the easiest way to get your whole den synced up.

4. Get to your documents faster with the command line

Don’t be scared of it, the command line is a bear’s best friend. With just a few thwacks of your deadly paws on the keyboard, you’ll finally get to all your ursine spreadsheets, word docs, and PSDs faster. You can even set up shortcuts to get to your Tumblr dashboard in less time than it takes to raid a campground.

5. Upgrade your den’s home theater with Ubuntu and XBMC on an unused laptop

Is your dank, rocky home a mess of set-top boxes and cables? Get that down to one HTPC and you’ll be amazed how much better it can be to be a bear watching television. It can seem daunting, but even a bear of very little brain can get Ubuntu and XBMC running in just a few hours. Put on your favorite The Edge-related skin and sit back. You’ve earned it!
